Our Programmes

AMET’s core programmes are organised through its Peer Support Cafés. Activities are selected in response to community needs, partner expertise and the resources available at each venue. Not every activity is offered at every session.

Peer Support Cafés

Our cafés provide welcoming, structured community sessions where residents can meet, share information, build confidence and seek practical guidance. Repeat attendance helps people maintain connections and engage with appropriate support over time.

Health access and prevention

We offer community health-awareness sessions and practical help understanding local health services, including GP registration, preventative screening information and the use of NHS digital services. When suitably qualified professionals and appropriate arrangements are available, programmes may include health checks such as blood pressure or diabetes checks. AMET itself does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

Safeguarding, women and family safety

Sessions help participants understand personal safety, domestic abuse, safeguarding concerns and where to access specialist services. We aim to provide a respectful setting for questions and use appropriate escalation and referral arrangements. Specialist protection, counselling, legal or statutory advice is provided by authorised services rather than assumed to be part of AMET’s own provision.

Peer support and wellbeing

Wellbeing, movement, social activities and community learning create opportunities to reduce isolation and strengthen relationships. Sessions may include physical activity, arts, healthy eating and practical health education, depending on the current programme.

Navigation and digital inclusion

Participants may receive practical support accessing online information, appointments and essential public-service systems. Activities have included digital connectivity and guidance using NHS, council and other everyday services. Staff and volunteers work within defined responsibilities and signpost to regulated advisers when necessary.

Community participation

AMET also supports residents to contribute views and experiences to wider local engagement activities. Where participation forms part of a multi-organisation project, AMET describes its contribution separately from the combined programme’s achievements.

Employment and enterprise-related learning

AMET has historically delivered practical community learning relating to employability, enterprise and household finances. Current workshops are advertised as part of café timetables when funded and available; this is not a standing promise of employment placement or accredited advice.
