Mental Health and Cultural Backgrounds: A Perspective

Facilitator: Jian Kay, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist
Event Description:
As part of the Abdul Mageed Educational Trust’s 2024/5 Community Learning Workshop series in collaboration with Islamic Relief UK, this session led by Jian Kay, a cognitive behavioural therapist, will explore the relationship between mental health and cultural backgrounds. The workshop will examine how cultural perspectives shape mental health experiences, the challenges of mental health stigma in diverse communities, and how culturally sensitive approaches can improve mental health outcomes. This session will provide practical tools and insights for individuals seeking to understand mental health through a cultural lens better.

Peer Support Café:
After the workshop, join the Peer Support Café for informal discussions, activities, and the opportunity to engage further with the topics covered. The café offers a supportive space for reflection and shared experiences, allowing participants to connect on mental health and cultural perspectives.
