Abdul Mageed Educational Trust (AMET) is pleased to welcome a positive funding decision from Paddington Charities, supporting its continued commitment to accessible, community-based services for Paddington residents. The decision, communicated on 4 November 2026, follows AMET’s application to strengthen its established Peer Support Café at Church Street Library in Westminster. Supporting local residents through trusted community spaces AMET’s Church Street Peer Support Café operates every Tuesday from 11am to 2pm, providing a welcoming, safeguarded environment where residents can build connections, access practical information and receive support in familiar languages. The café particularly supports refugees, asylum seekers, migrant communities, older residents and people experiencing language barriers or social isolation. Activities include preventative health and wellbeing information, peer-led discussions, community learning and practical guidance on accessing local services. Support is provided in Arabic, Amharic and Tigrinya. Strengthening community delivery in Paddington AMET’s funding application focused on supporting ten café sessions for eligible Paddington residents, including refreshments and practical resources to improve communication, accessibility and participation. The proposed investment builds on an established programme rather than creating a separate short-term activity. Regular engagement allows AMET to develop trusted relationships, understand residents’ needs and help people access appropriate support before difficulties escalate. Investing in prevention and community connection The positive decision recognises the value of sustained, local community provision and the importance of making services accessible to residents who may face barriers to mainstream support. AMET thanks the trustees of Paddington Charities for considering its work and recognising the importance of local community engagement. The Trust remains committed to developing its network of Peer Support Cafés across Westminster, including Paddington, Church Street, Maida Vale, Lisson Grove and Pimlico.
