Facilitator: Jian Kay, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist
Event Description:
As part of the Abdul Mageed Educational Trust’s 2024/5 Community Learning Workshop series, in collaboration with Islamic Relief UK, this important session led by Jian Kay, a cognitive behavioural therapist, will explore the complexities of depression with psychotic episodes. The workshop will cover symptoms such as hearing voices, seeing visions, hallucinations, illusions, and suicidal thoughts. Participants will learn about the causes and manifestations of these symptoms and practical strategies for managing them through cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other therapeutic interventions.
Peer Support Café:
After the session, participants are invited to join the Peer Support Café, a safe and supportive space for further discussions, community connection, and shared experiences. This drop-in café provides a valuable opportunity to explore mental health topics in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
This event is ideal for individuals experiencing or supporting someone with depression and psychotic episodes, as well as mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of these conditions.
